If you like being charged thousands in overdraft fees in one year and being put into financial ruin by a banking institution then this is the bank for you. Oh and if you enjoy waiting days for funds to be released (and being charged more fees while you wait) then you will really enjoy doing business with this corporation. Who doesn't like waiting days for access to their own money?

Mar 17, 2023Previous reviewThis is the worst credit union ever. Do not bank with them. They don't care about their "members" at all. They will take money from your account when you least expect it. They act like they're doing you a favor by allowing you to bank with them. I have friends and family members who also bank with them but we are all moving on to other credit unions because 1stuscu is the worst. There are much better options out there.

An excellent bank to deal with. I have been an valued customer for over 2years now with no issues. All staff are professional and knowledgeable. Excellent good customer service. Smiles and plenty of greeting as soon as you enter the door. Highly recommend to bank with.

Feb 11, 2020Previous reviewToday I came in and deposited my check, I needed help with depositing $40 and receiving singles back for one of my twenty dollar bill and one of your employees named Alicia came and assist me with how to deposit my money into the bank and getting singles back for one of my 20s. She was very polite and walk me through the steps.

I've been banking with them for years my mom had this account since it was only for state workers then she put me and my sibling on and we've been here ever since my favorite person at the Berkeley branch is Taylor she's awesome funny and is always straight down for business I don't plan on leaving anytime soon

I had a bad experience here trying to setup and new business checking account. I was asked to wait outside until about 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment (I arrived about 10 minutes early) only to be told by the same person that asked me to wait outside that my appointment was canceled because no manager was present. This person could have easily communicated that to me before I was asked to wait outside.

I have been a member of !st United since the 90's and I have had nothing but good experiences with them. Despite this being a stressful period and the phone lines are very busy, I was able to speak with a wonderful Representative.
Fabiola was patient, very friendly and professional. She assisted me and was able to accomplish exactly what I requested within two days!! came into the branch in Berkeley to ask what was needed to open an account here for both myself and my children and was told that I would need my ssn card. Understanding procedures and policy, the way that it was explained seemed like it was optional at one point and a requirement at another during the conversation. I asked that since it was stated that "sometimes" the system would ask for a copy I could at least start the process to see if it would indeed ask for a copy of my ssn. She (maybe the manager) said yes however we'd recommend you just come in with it. It did not seem like she wanted to even try and it felt like I was being discriminated against. Being that she could have started the process to see whether or not I would need a copy but made a choice not to is not a good look for people looking to do business with 1st United. I am knowledgeable about credit unions however I understand that there are procedures that must be followed, this seemed more of a optional thing that could have been accommodated but it appeared that they would rather inconvenience a person. Not here to bad mouth this CU, just share an experience. I may try a different location but I will never patronize this location as I feel that I was brushed off because they simply didn't want to assist.

By far my favorite location to come to when banking with 1st United. The employees are amazingly helpful when I fail to use the atm properly, yikes.
I always look forward to seeing the staff and saying hello- they even remember that I need a parking validation occasionally
