Last minute stay for Parents Weekend and this was one of the few hotels left. I gotta say, it was much better than I expected. The room was clean, room/bathroom remodeled, with a microwave, fridge, iron, hairdryer and A/C that blew freezing cold air. Bed and pillows were comfy. Even though it was a "motel-type" place with doors facing the parking lot, it didn't feel unsafe and I didn't hear a lot of noise outside my room. No loiterers. I booked through Expedia and didn't have any problems checking in. I would stay here again.

they guys were very unprofessional and the second one barley understood English. There first room I was checked into had carpet coming off the baseboard. the second room has no circulation; so it smelled like a musty person showed and the odor was still lingering. There was water dripping from the ac unit above my room hitting the unit in my room making a nose throughout my stay. The front desk calls me at 8AM after barely getting any sleep. Then I came out of my room to put my things in my car to find out my business logos were stolen off my car. when into office to speaker with the manager he came out and greeted me with WHAT? I politely said hi how are you? Just nasty attitude and RUDE

Our first time in Berkeley. We are here for a concert at The Greek theater. The location of the hotel is ideal to the venue. We actually walked because the weather was really nice. The entire area is crap. The hotel from the outside is questionable. However the staff was super nice the actual hotel was not only very clean, it smelled clean! The room was very basic but nice. The shower was super nice and upgraded. Nothing gross or questionable about the room. Side note...BRING YOUR OWN TOWEL. The "big" towels were slightly bigger than a large hand towel. My husband and I aren't big people but the towel size was a little silly. But overall not 5 stars since the area was kind of gross and the parking was limited.

A few minutes after I arrived at my room for the first time, a man came in who had a key to t he room and who claimed to be renting it. I returned to the office to report this, and unfortunately left my day pack in the room. During the few minutes I was at the office, the man stole $200 from my day pack. Berkeley Police subsequently recovered $160. Travelodge management never acknowledged that their security was lax, and never compensated me in any way for my loss. The total cost of my stay at Travelodge was the full amount of the rent plus the $40 that had been stolen from my room and that the Berkeley Police had been unable to recover.

As of 3/17/23, this place has active construction. We arrived on 3/16/23 and noticed a large truck loaded with construction debris. On Friday morning, construction workers were removing the tile on the balcony and it was incredibly loud, it disrupted my work Zoom meeting. The debris from the tile removal was on the entire walkway as we took our bags down to our car. The second story bathroom window was missing the screen, there were scuff marks on the some of the walls and the king size bed was too big to have in that small space.

Clean rooms and newly renovated this place had everything we need for our one night stay at Berkeley. The manager/owner was super nice and friendly.
We had two rooms. For a few dollars more we had the cornet room with additional space. Brand new bathroom was nice and very clean.
Only complaint was the cleaning supplies they used have an odd but strong smell. All three of our rooms had the same clean but strong smell. It did not bother anyone but was noticeable.
This place was by far less expensive than others in the area and was exactly what we needed.
It is walking distance to downtown Berkeley and the University. Good location and kid friendly.
Breakfast is included but it's pretty basic. Breads and coffee.
We recommend it for what it is. Clean, safe and comfortable for a short stay.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Paola L.Santa Monica, CA0238May 15, 2021
Nice paint job on the exterior but gross inside the rooms unless you like hair on your sheets and stains everywhere.

I only gave a 1 star because Yelp wants to to give a star. If they had negative stars I'd hav checked of several negative stars.
This place as I type this is trying to charge my credit card $186.00+ for a Presidents Day weekend reservation that I didn't make. They wont refund the charge or reverse the charge. The Wyndham called the hotel and the manager named 'Jing" (sp?) said, "No." Expedia called the hotel and the same manager said, "No.". My bank called Expedia and then called the Travel Lodge and the Travel Lodge manager 'Jig' (sp?) manager said, "No." Expedia gave me a phone number to the hotel and I called 3 times with no answer, I let the phone ring several times, no answer.
I never made a reservation, so Expedia ask me to send them a screen capture of my bank statement showing the fraudulent charge, so I sent them a screen capture showing only the charge (not the entire bank statement for obvious security reasons.).
This is so wrong on many levels. The hotel management doesn't care that I'm the victim of fraud, I was chaperoning students and i had to worry if I had enough money to take the shuttle to LAX. That moment is stressful just thinking about it. Travel Lodge just wants to charge for a reservation that I didn't make, mind you Expedia tells me that 3 rooms were reserved and one was subsequently cancelled (?!?!?!?), I've never heard of this hotel, next thing I know I see a charge on my card for $186.00?!?!? Where I teach was paying for a field trip to Berkeley, they paid for where we stayed in Berkeley, they paid for our airport transportation, why would I make a second reservation?
I explained the whole situation to he Wyndham, Expedia, and they still say the hotel manager "Jing" (sp?) said that he won't reverse the charge nor cancel trying too charge. I had my bank card the minute I saw the fraud and Travel Lodge management is still trying to charge me. My bank immediately cancelled my card when they say the fraud, Wyndham and Expedia is trying to help me out and a place where someone used my info to make a fraudulent reservation is still trying to collect money from me. I'm the victim and the manager of Travel Lodge is treating me like a criminal.
This is really sad and pathetic. I'll stick with the Hilton.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ari L.Henderson, NV396320Jan 1, 2019
So my boyfriend and I recently stayed there on business for 16 days.
Only 2 issues I had here:
limited parking.
Some noise: I was staying on a first floor room and one night the people above us were so loud that I could barely sleep, and for working 12 hr days for 2 weeks straight, I needed my sleep.
Another night, a different group was above us and they were having sex so loud it was shaking the bed above us and they themselves were being over the top loud.
I'm not old and crabby nor sensitive, I was staying with my boyfriend and of course we have our personal time but we're considerate about it.
I had called the front desk both times. I know there will be noise in a hotel but both times were just unacceptably loud.
After I called the front desk for the second situation, a guy named Harry was pretty rude about it. Told me to call if it continued, which I then had to call again minutes later. After that, about 20 mins passed and Harry called my room and told me that maybe we should move rooms or that he would force us to be moved into a second floor room because they can't have me calling and making noise complaints because the guests who were just involved got angry and left. He told me that I was making him lose business.
This is NOT my problem, and a very unprofessional way to handle a situation. I don't mind some noise, I get the situation but when the noise is unnaturally loud, come one. Then to tell me, a guest who paid for 16 nights that I was making his 1 night guest to get laid, leave. That's the first for me at any hotel. Not to mention when I tried to explain this to Harry, he got even more aggressive and then just hung up on
Other than that, the rooms are newly renovated. The owner and employees keep it safe and they manage the property to make sure the guests feel comfortable and that nobody unwanted is on the property, I liked that.
The other guy, his name was Ravi I believe, he was a great person and very accommodating. He definitely made our stay worthwhile and he made the place feel safe too.
Harry needs to find a new job or the owner needs to discuss his behavior with him.
I would stay at this location again for sure.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
